Don’t call it the latest fitness trend; Lagree Fitness is much more than that. While it is most definitely sweeping the country, the program, which has been around for 11 years, is offered at more than 100 studios in the country.
Founded by Sebastien Lagree, the system is devised to the ultimate workout, according to Marina Perrone, owner of Palm Beach Gardens’ Core Evolution, one of only four studios in South Florida offering the class. “Each class is 45 minutes long with a 5 minute stretch. It doesn’t seem very long but Lagree is a head-to-toe, low-impact exercise. We aim for complete muscle failure with each move,” explained Perrone, owner of Core Evolution.
Participants work out on an amped up version of a reformer called Megaformer M3 (Lagree’s invention and the latest edition). The platform features an assortment of bells and whistles that are adjusted by the user to add more resistance, ease or weight. This allows the user to never plateau and constantly challenge their bodies with each individual movement. “Each movement is designed to be completed as slowly as possible, working muscles past the point of exhaustion. It is the only exercise to effectively combine cardio, flexibility, strength and balance. Every movement is core strength,” said Perrone.
The exercise system is transforming bodies including the great physiques of Sofia Vergara, Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman and Courtney Cox. Each 45/50-minute class is estimated to burn up to 700 calories. Founder Lagree will be hosting three classes at Core Evolution this Saturday (February 22) at 11 a.m., 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.
