The Big Picture by Arthur Elgort serves as a visual documentary of the life and work of photographer Arthur Elgort (b. 1940). Elgort is best known for his fashion photography for American, French and Italian Vogue and his work for fashion labels such as Chanel, Valentino or Yves Saint Laurent. His style has become iconic among the art world for his rare ability to capture liveliness and intimacy. This unique combination is influenced by his admiration for jazz and ballet. Born and raised in New York City and attended Hunter College, Elgort began by studying painting before switching to photography, which he has described as being a much more immediate and social art form than painting. The book, released February 28 by Steidl, is filled with visually stunning selections from the past 50 years of his career proving both the longevity of his art and the endurance of his talent. The book is available for purchase via here.
