I’m not a beauty guru. I’m not particularly talented with makeup. I do, however, understand the importance of face creams. Or at least, I should say they make me feel important and fancy and so I use them. Now it’s getting more complicated with BB creams, CC creams, DD creams. I even read about a GG cream. So, what does your face need and why does it need it? Here’s a breakdown of your everyday creams, their benefits and how they differ from one another.
Tinted Moisturizer
This is the most common sense of products. It’s a light, weight moisturizer (soothes and hydrates your face) and it’s tinted (evens out your complexion). Most tinted moisturizers give a glow sheen or have an illuminating effect on the skin. You can wear alone or mix it with foundation for a more polished look. Most of today’s tinted moisturizer also have SPF. If you are running late, then it’s a time-saving product. Foundation
Why do you need foundation? Because it is the only makeup that if perfectly matched to your skin color then will transform into a flawless, radiant complexion. That’s the beauty of foundation. There are so many tints so a perfect match is a possibility. It’s even suggested to mix a few to get that perfect color. Find what works best for your skin – a pressed powder foundation or a liquid foundation. BB Creams
BB creams stand for beauty or blemish cream. The benefit of using a BB cream is the product is loaded with antioxidants, broad-spectrum SPF and anti-aging ingredients that treat the skin. These creams are relatively new in the country but they’ve been extremely popular in Asia for years. These creams are very light, so it is recommended that you use extra sun protection. Recommendations: Maybelline Dream Fresh BB, Dr. Brandt Signature Flexitone BB Cream, Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35, Estee Lauder DayWear BB
CC Creams
Color correction (CC) cream are more intense and more sheer than BB creams. These creams are whipped, extremely light (non-oily!) and help reduce redness. Recommendations: Olay Total Effects CC Tone Correcting Moisturizer, Clinique CC Cream, Supergoop CC Cream
DD Creams
This alphabet cream is the latest and newest. The Ds stand for daily defense and the more popular dynamic do-all. Some dermatologist say there is not much difference between BBs, CCs and DDs. It brightens, firms, refines, moisturizes, primes and everything else. Recommendations: Julep DD Crème, DermaDoctor DD Cream 15-Benefits-In-1
