Before last week, I was a facial virgin and for good reason. I have not had the best of luck with facials, albeit at-home facials. My girlfriends and I once made our own mud masks, and my skin developed a terrible rash. While I am still wary of the experience, a real salon practice was calling my name. I am happy to report my visit to Beauté Therapies was flawless and I might have just discovered a new beauty addiction.
From the moment I walked into Beauté, I felt calm. Because of my nerves, I had taken the time to research the West Palm Beach-based salon and discovered that each staff member has trained for more than 20 years. Dealing with experts is a must, and it certainly reassured my worries. The cloud-like bed further set the stage for 60 minutes of bliss.
One of Beauté’s pioneer medial estheticians, Lisa Ciampa-English, performed the Iron Mask facial. Based on a dermophisiologique treatment that was first patented in 1975, the Iron Mask Facial is more perfected than ever. It has been revised, reformulated, and improved to feature technological advances. The three components—the Iron Mask “cream,” magnet and special tonic—dig deep into your pores for an effective cleansing and an immediate toning.
After my facial, Ciampa-English went into depth explaining the treatments steps. Essentially, our skin becomes blocked with a thickened layer of sebum, an oily substance that can lead to increased blackheads and infection. The nonaggressive nature of the Iron Mask facial works through that layer of gunk to open, cleanse and visibly refresh these pores. The sophisticated cosmetic cream is made up of tiny and uniquely shaped iron microspheres to give the ultimate deep clean. The products and the magnet open the face’s sweat glands and the pilosebaceous (hair) follicles in the skin.
The Iron Mask facial far exceeded my expectations. I was impressed that the treatment left such a positive effect on my skin for days afterward. During that blissful hour at Beauté, I slipped into a dream, somewhere in a carefree and calming world. I emerged feeling awake, reinvigorated and confident in recommending Beauté Therapies. Thank you, Lisa, for opening my eyes (and pores) to the true meaning and capabilities of a facial.
