The preschool ribbon cutting for the Pedro G. Morrison Early Learning Center at the YMCA of the Palm Beaches drew a crowd on September 27, 2014. The early learning center is a state-of-the-art educational resource for local families, and a major milestone for the YMCA, one of Palm Beach County’s oldest nonprofits.

The Family Fun Day at the YMCA’s 18-acre campus in West Palm Beach included skateboard demonstrations, game trucks, bounce houses, dance group performances, and food and drink options. Ashleigh Waters from WPTV NewsChannel5 was the event MC, and started the event with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the YMCA’s CEO, Jacqueline Frost. The YMCA of the Palm Beaches also highlighted their local programs with performances by the organization’s extracurricular groups.

The Pedro G. Morrison Early Leaning Center hosts more than 100 children for preschool and after-care programs. The center has been a top priority for the YMCA. In 2010, after several bad storm season the YMCA had to tear down their current child care building, and operate out of a temporary unit with a much smaller occupancy. The YMCA is excited to welcome back students, and invite new families to see the state-of-the-art center and learn about the resources and programs available.
