Get your wallet out cause we have a deal for you! Nope, it’s not for a great fashion purchase or a dining experience. It’s even better. It’s for your community, your local nonprofits. It’s the Great Give.
Hosted by United Way of Palm Beach County and Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, the Great Give is a crowd-funding online event benefiting more then 320 local nonprofits on May 6. The registration deadline for nonprofits is now closed. The collaboration is a first for both organization, who earlier in the year realized they were both planning an online, crowdfunding event and decided to team up to host the largest event locally.
“As the two leading fundraising entities in PBC, it made sense for us to partner. The experience has exceeded all expectations so far and we anticipate that the results on May 6 will as well,” says Alexia Savage, vice president in marketing and brand management for United Way of PBC.
The goal is to raise as much money as money in a 24-hour period through the online platform, www.GreatGivePBC.org. On May 6 the 24-hour online giving event kicks off at midnight and ends at 11:59 p.m. Donors are encouraged to give $10 and more to the charity of their choice. Every local gift will be multiplied with bonus funds being raised by the Community Foundation.Even before the main event, Great Give partners have announced they have already raised $450,000 in bonus funds.
To help supplement the 24-hour online fundraising event, the United Way and Community Foundation have organized a day of free events. Hosted at 700 S. Dixie Hwy. in West Palm Beach, there will be a variety of organizations and companies offering gifts, giveaways and meet & greets and food.
