Happy Diwali Day!
So what exactly does Diwali mean? Simple. It’s a five-day Hindu celebration of lights, and today, Thursday, October 23 (day 3) is the peak of celebrations. What exactly are we celebrating? All goals we can agree on … New beginnings, the emergence of light from darkness and the victory of good over evil. It is also a time for spring cleaning, eating sweets and exchanging gifts. Where does it derive from? Diwali originated in countries that observe Hindu, such as India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, but the festival is also observed by Jains and Sikhs. In the past years, the festival has been observed in more and more Western countries. How do we celebrate Diwali? Well in today’s modern times, you’ll see fireworks, firecrackers and bright lights. Traditionally, families who observe Diwali will light small lanterns and leave them outside their homes for the goddess of wealth Lakshmi to find her way safely into their homes. The light celebration is so intense that it can even be observed from space.
